This study examines community contribution activities based on volunteer activities of nursing university students at nearby community centers and survey results targeting the community elderly. A questionnaire survey was carried out with community elderlies aged 65 years and older who are attending a university for the elderly organized by the community centers. The most cited expectation from universities was “interaction with students.” Students built relationships with local residents through volunteer activities. Students’ sense of accomplishment was found to increase as a result of contributing to the community. Likewise, their attachment to and interest in the community also increased.It is necessary to provide opportunities for universities and local residents to interact. Furthermore, it is important to provide a conducive environment for students to take initiative and actively participate in the community, which will raise their interest in
